Terms of Service
Last updated: 2026-02-17
By using Use Boring services, you agree to these Terms of Service. Please read them carefully.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account or using our free tools, you agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, do not use our services.
2. Description of Service
The Site Watcher suite provides monitoring tools for website infrastructure including uptime monitoring, SSL certificate expiry tracking, domain expiry tracking, DNS record monitoring, and vendor dependency status monitoring.
Our free tools check individual aspects of your site infrastructure on demand. Our paid monitoring service, Site Watcher Pro, checks your sites continuously and alerts you to outages, expiring certificates, lapsed domains, DNS changes, and vendor incidents.
The service monitors publicly accessible endpoints and DNS records. We do not access your server internals, application code, databases, or private network resources.
The service is provided as an informational tool. Monitoring results are reported as-is from their respective sources. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of third-party data sources including WHOIS registrars and vendor status pages.
3. User Accounts
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and password. You are responsible for all activities under your account. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorised use of your account.
4. Free Tier
We offer a free tier with limited functionality. Free tier users are subject to usage limits which may change at any time. We may modify, restrict, or discontinue the free tier without notice.
Free tier accounts that remain inactive for 12 months may be deleted along with associated data. We will attempt to notify you by email before deletion.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the service for any illegal purpose
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
- Interfere with or disrupt the service
- Resell the service without permission
- Use the service to monitor domains or resources you do not own or have authorisation to monitor
- Systematically scrape or redistribute data from the service
6. Payment Terms
Paid plans are billed in advance on a monthly or annual basis. All fees are non-refundable except at our discretion or where required by applicable law.
If payment fails, we will attempt to notify you and retry. After 14 days of failed payment, your account may be downgraded to the free tier. Monitoring data associated with domains beyond the free tier limit will be retained for 30 days, after which it may be deleted.
We may change pricing with 30 days notice. Price changes apply to the next billing cycle, not the current one.
7. Data Accuracy and Disclaimers
Our tools query publicly available data sources including DNS servers, WHOIS databases, certificate transparency logs, and similar systems. We do not control these sources and cannot guarantee their accuracy or availability.
Monitoring checks run at regular intervals, not continuously. There may be a delay between a change occurring and our detection of it. Alert delivery depends on third-party email services and is not guaranteed to be instantaneous.
You are responsible for verifying any findings and taking appropriate action. Our service does not constitute professional advice of any kind.
8. Service Availability
We aim to provide reliable service but do not offer a formal Service Level Agreement (SLA) or uptime guarantee. The service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control. We will endeavour to provide advance notice of planned maintenance where practicable.
9. Intellectual Property
You retain ownership of any data you provide to us, including domain lists and account information. We retain ownership of the service, its design, code, and documentation.
Monitoring results and reports generated by the service are provided for your use. You may share them with colleagues or clients but may not resell access to the service or systematically redistribute its output without permission.
10. Limitation of Liability
Our service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to lost data, lost profits, business interruption, or any failure to detect or alert you to changes in monitored resources.
11. Termination
You may cancel your account at any time. Paid subscriptions remain active until the end of the current billing period. Upon cancellation, your monitoring data will be retained for 30 days and then permanently deleted.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, engage in abusive use of the service, or remain unpaid beyond the grace period described in Payment Terms.
You may request an export of your data at any time while your account is active by contacting us.
12. General Provisions
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force.
We may update these terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by email or through the service. Continued use after notification constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Use Boring from any claims arising from your use of the service or violation of these terms.

Uptime Checks and HTTP Monitoring
Our uptime monitoring sends HTTP/HTTPS requests to URLs you configure at regular intervals. By adding a URL for monitoring, you confirm that you own or have authorisation to monitor that website.
Uptime checks originate from multiple geographic locations. Your server logs may show requests from our monitoring infrastructure. We identify our requests with a recognisable user agent string.
We record response codes, response times, and availability status. This data is stored as part of the monitoring service and is available to you in your dashboard.
Domain and SSL Certificate Checks
Our domain expiry tools query publicly available WHOIS data for domains you specify. SSL certificate checks connect to your server on port 443 to retrieve the publicly presented certificate chain.
By using these tools, you confirm that you have a legitimate reason to query the domain, such as ownership, management, or operational dependency on that domain.
WHOIS and certificate data is inherently public. Results are cached briefly for free tools and stored historically for paid monitoring.
